Eviews 9 Overview

EViews 9 features a wide range of exciting changes and improvements. The following is an overview of the most important new features in EViews 9.


EViews Interface

Command capture from the interactive interface: EViews 9 offers command capture for most object views and procedures, and a large number of other interactive operations. When you perform an operation using the user-interface, EViews will save the equivalent text command for display and export. Once opened, you may move and resize the window as desired.


Dockable command and capture window interface: The EViews 9 command and capture windows are dockable, floatable, and hideable. Dockable and hideable windows allow you to move frequently used windows out of the way while keeping them close at hand.Floatable windows allow you to move them out of the way of your work. You may even go so far as to float a window outside of the EViews frame.


Database and workfile object preview: EViews 9 offers a new object preview mode that allows you to browse quickly through objects in workfiles and databases. Select and right-click on one or more objects in a database or workfile window or press F9 to open the preview window.


Data Handling

Enhanced import and linking of data: With EViews 9, series objects can now be linked to an object in another workfile and to any other valid external data source that can be imported into EViews (e.g. – Excel file, Text file, ODBC database, etc...).The Manage Links and Forumulae dialog has been redesigned to help you understand and manage links that currently exist in your workfile.


A powerful new FRED database interface: EViews 9 offers an updated interface to the FRED data service provided by the Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis. The new interface includes a custom browser for navigating the available FRED data and adds support for retrieval of historical releases.

*Note: The Student Version places "soft" capacity restrictions on the amount of data (1,500 observations per series, 15,000 total observations, 60 objects) that may be saved or exported. Students may, without restriction, work with larger amounts of data, but workfiles that exceed the soft limits may not be saved nor the data exported.

Shazam 10.0 - Comprehensive econometric software

Easy-to-use, comprehensive programmable software package for econometrics. The primary strength of Shazam lies in the estimation & testing of many types of regression models.

Features include ARIMA, Probit, Logit, Tobit, 2 and 3SLS, regression with time varying coefficients, non parametric methods, linear/non-linear hypothesis testing with confidence interval calculations, Auto-correlation, Principal Components Analysis, Factor, Matrix, handling many tests, Monte-Carlo, maximum likelihood, GNUPLOT for high quality Graphics.

SHAZAM is a comprehensive computer program for econometricians, statisticians, biometricians, sociometricians, psychometricians, politicometricians and others who use statistical techniques. The primary strength of SHAZAM is for the estimation and testing of many types of regression models. The SHAZAM command language has great flexibility and provides capabilities for programming procedures. SHAZAM has an interface to the GNUPLOT package for high quality graphics.
